Importance of HbA1c (Glyco-HB)

This test evaluates about 10–12 weeks of glucose control. Patients with HbA1c above 8.0% have a very high risk of developing long-term complications in the eye (retinopathy), kidney (nephropathy), nervous system (neuropathy) and heart (cardiopathy).

Importance of Microalbumin

This is a simple urine test that detects renal complications very early, especially in persons with diabetes. Persons with persistent increased microalbumin may ultimately develop diabetic nephropathy.

How to prepare & what to expect

  • Recommended for individuals with diabetes or those under evaluation for sugar-related complications.
  • Visit the laboratory in a fasting state as advised for accurate sugar and lipid results.
  • Contact your physician / family physician for interpretation of reports and further management.
