A blood test to detect 40 India-specific allergens
Allergy is a disorder of the immune system. Allergic reactions occur due to environmental substances known as allergens. It is characterized by excessive activation of white blood cells called mast cells and basophils by IgE, resulting in an inflammatory response. In some people, severe allergies to environmental or dietary allergens may result in life-threatening anaphylactic reactions.
Specific IgE Panel — new test for allergy
The allergen-specific IgE panel helps identify the allergy state with better specificity than conventional approaches alone.
Detection of allergen / allergy state
Conventional laboratory tests available for assessment of allergic state include Absolute Eosinophil Counts and IgE estimation. Skin testing is also performed to detect specific allergens; however, skin tests can be painful and non-specific at times.
Allergen Specific IgE Panel
Allergen-specific IgE panel is a line immunoassay capable of detecting a wide range of food and inhalation allergens in whole blood. The patient does not have to undergo multiple pricks and pain. In addition, it is possible to quantitate the presence of specific IgE against that particular allergen.
