Importance of Homocysteine

High Homocysteine levels correlate to the extent of atherosclerotic plaque in the aorta. Homocysteine can impair the ability to repair vascular endothelial cell injury and thus promote the development of atherosclerosis. It is possible to reduce its level with a course of simple vitamins, thus helping reduce heart-attack risk.

Importance of HbA1c (Glyco-HB)

This test evaluates about 10–12 weeks of glucose control. Patients with HbA1c above 8.0% have a very high risk of developing long-term complications in the eye (retinopathy), kidney (nephropathy), nervous system (neuropathy) and heart (cardiopathy).

Importance of Microalbumin

This is a simple urine test that detects renal complications very early, especially in persons with diabetes. Persons with persistent increased microalbumin may ultimately develop diabetic nephropathy.

Importance of Vitamin D

Vitamin D deficiency is known to cause muscle weakness, pains, rickets, osteoporosis and osteomalacia. Recent studies also link deficiency with brain conditions (including schizophrenia and depression), immune-related illnesses (Type II diabetes, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, weakened response to infections), lung disease (asthma), circulatory problems (high blood pressure, coronary heart disease, paralytic strokes) and possible association with certain cancers.

Importance of Vitamin B12

Many adults have low Vitamin B12 levels. Deficiency symptoms can include tingling in fingers and toes, forgetfulness, confusion, psychosis, hallucinations, tremors, depression, chronic fatigue, urinary incontinence, weight loss and shortness of breath. These are often mistaken for normal ageing or other neurological diseases. In the Indian population, Vitamin B12 deficiency is common because the typical Indian diet is not a rich source of B12, and it is often missed when not tested.
